Cute little chair... before & after

Before

After

I purchased this cute little chair from the DI for $3. I used some textured brown spray paint that I already had at home (although I didn't have enough and had to buy more). I unscrewed the top and bottom of the chair and spray painted the frame then I took some cute material that I had on hand and hot glued it over the cushions. Once the spray paint was dry I put the whole chair back together. Total cost $8 because I had to buy more spray paint or else it would have been $3
Ryker LOVES this cute little chair and I love to look at it and think of what I accomplished. Win... win... win.

Sad News

I was released from my calling over the craft group. I am SO sad to see this calling come to an end. The good news is that I will never be finished doing crafts. I love creating new things and changing up old things to make them new. I will continue to use this blog to display the crafts that I will continue doing for my own home and as gifts for other people. I am always up for doing crafts with others and have a whole room just for this hobby of mine. Contact me anytime for suggestions or questions that you might have about the crafts that I do or anytime you would like to get together.

Thanks to all those ladies in my ward for coming to the craft group. I have really enjoyed getting to know all of you.

November Craft Day

In staying with tradition from Last year I decided to hold another BRING your OWN craft night. If you are like me I tend to start projects but end up putting those aside for something more pressing. You should see my list of unfinished projects... it is long. I love getting people together to work on any project, and the ladies in my ward are the best. I will most likely be working on either cards or Scrapbooking that night but you are welcome to bring anything. If you weren't able to complete something from Super Saturday this is a great opportunity. We will be having this BYOC (Bring your own craft) Night on Thursday November 19th from 7-9 at my house. Bring a small treat or snack to share. I hope to see you all there!!

October craft

I am SO late posting these pictures. We had our Super Saturday just this last weekend. I had a lot of fun making these blocks. I also made some for a couple of craft fairs that I have been doing with my Pampered Chef business. These are very simple to make and can be made with any paper that you desire and the sayings are limitless. Here are instructions for people who weren't able to make it or wanted to make them but didn't sign up.
Items that you will need:
Blocks - I used a 2X6 board and cut them 8 in long.
Paint - I used acrylic light Ivory paint
Stain - For the antique or distressed look
Sandpaper
Sponge brushes - one for paint & one for Mod Podge
Mod Podge
Paper - I used a 12X12 sheet and made 2 at a time
Vinyl saying - I used my cricut and cut out some vinyl that I ordered REALLY cheap at www.expressionsvinyl.com .

Instructions -
1 Sand around the edges of the block if you cut the wood yourself.
2. Paint the blocks - although don't stress about the middle of each board since you will be covering it with paper.
3. Sand around the edges again as much as you want for the antique look
4. Add as much or as little stain to the edges (I use a paper towel to put on and rub off)
5. While that is drying cut the paper down to size. You can put the paper all the way to the edge or leave a few centimeters around each side.
6. Add Mod Podge to the back of the paper - Less is more in this case. A light layer will do but make sure it is flat on the board so it doesn't bubble.
7. Let it DRY for about 10-15 minutes then add another light layer of Mod Podge.
8. After everything is dry Add the vinyl.
ALL FINISHED! How easy is that.

I am going to make some cute Black & White ones with the word FAMILY in Burgundy for my entertainment center. Just another project to add to my long list.
I love crafting!!

August Craft Update

Craft Night – Thursday August

27th

Diaper wipes case & Diaper Carrying case

Kimberly Belnap will be demonstrating this craft at the church @ 7 PM

If you want to do just the wipe case you'll need:
-scraps that are 10x5 (2 pieces) or if you're going to the store anyway, 1/4 yard would be plenty.
-a piece of wide ribbon 5 1/2 inches or 10 depending on which way you want it to run.
-an embellishment if you want (metal piece or flower or whatever)
-rope type ribbon stuff (to go all the way around the case over the fabric ends) 50 inches of that (ribbon looks great too)
-batting (You just need a few scraps to cover the top of the wipe case) -glue gun and sticks
-scissors
-travel size wipe case

IF YOU WANT TO SEW A CARRYING CASE ALSO, YOU WILL NEED:
-if you're coordinating the case and the carrier, you'll want 1/3 yard of one fabric and a 1/4 yard of coordinating one. This should be enough for both.
-you can bring your sewing machine and thread or you can share the ward sewing machines.
-velcro (just 2 small squares)

We look forward to seeing you there. If you have questions, call Sharee.
